Notary Publics with advanced electronic digital signature certificates may obtain incorporation permits via the Internet

On November 29, 2006 a decree was published in the Official Journal of the Federation through which the Department of ForeignRelations (SRE) provided notice that it would now allow notary publics with advanced electronic signature authority to carry outpermit applications for new corporations, permits to modify corporate bylaws, name changes, dissolutions, mergers and corporatespin-offs via the Internet through the SRE web portal. This means that all of these transmittals may be carried out by Mexicancorporations via Internet, which will greatly simplify these transmittals through a notary public with an FEA. The process to befollowed by notaries is as follows: Pay the corresponding fee for a permit via the Internet on the Taxpayer Administration Service(SAT) website, access the Internet webpage of the SRE and complete the corresponding permit application and present as anattachment the proof of payment of fees received electronically from the SAT. After the SRE reviews such information it willissue the requested permit via the Internet to the requesting notary public. Even though the exact time to carry out the newprocess has not been determined, it is expected that the new process will contribute greatly to simplifying and making moreconvenient this administrative process.
