U.S. Senators Urge Coordination with the Mexican Government on Definition of Essential Businesses

U.S. and Mexican businesses considered to be “essential” have been allowed to continue operating during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. However, the two countries have adopted different definitions of the terms “essential businesses”. This has resulted in confusion and supply chain interruptions. In an April 29th letter addressed to U.S. Secretary of State Michael R. Pompeo, a bipartisan group of eleven U.S. senators urged the U.S. State Department to coordinate with the Mexican government to clarify Mexico’s definition of essential businesses and thus avoid disruptions in U.S. and North America supply chains. Please click here to view the letter.
